Deletion & Retention Policy
How to Request Account Deletion
To request the deletion of your GutChek account and associated data, please follow the steps below:
1. Send an Email: Email us at admin@gutchek.io with your request to delete your GutChek account. Please include your registered email address and username for verification.
2. Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation once your request is processed. Please allow up to 7 business days for the deletion to be completed.
Account Deactivation Process
If you prefer to deactivate your account instead of deleting it permanently, you can do so directly from the GutChek app:
1. Deactivate Your Account: Navigate to the account settings in the GutChek app and select “Deactivate Account.”
2. Account Visibility: Your profile and @username will no longer be viewable on GutChek.io, GutChek for iOS, or GutChek for Android.
3. Restore Your Account: You can restore your GutChek account if it was accidentally or wrongfully deactivated within 30 days after deactivation. For assistance, please contact admin@gutchek.io.
Types of Data Deleted
When you request account deletion, the following types of data will be permanently removed from our systems:
•Personal Information: Name, email address, phone number, and other identifiable information.
•Medical Information: Pre-screening questionnaires, appointment history, and related medical data.
•Communication Records: Messages and interactions with our AI chatbot and customer support.
•Usage Data: Data related to your use of our platform, such as login history and app interactions.
Data Retention Period
In compliance with HIPAA requirements, GutChek retains user data for a minimum of six years from the date of its creation or the date when it was last in effect, whichever is later. After this period, all data is permanently deleted from our systems unless otherwise required by law.
How Do We Protect the Information We Collect
We take security of your information seriously. We are continuously implementing and updating administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration. We endeavor to follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Data submitted to us, both during transmission and in storage. For example, the Services use industry standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to allow for the encryption of Personal Data. We store and process your information on our servers in the United States and abroad and backup our systems. Although we make every good faith effort to protect your information, the Internet or storage devices are not 100% secure. You should also take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by, among other things, signing off after using our Services, choosing a robust password that nobody knows or can easily guess, and keeping login credentials private.
Requesting Partial Data Deletion
We currently do not provide a way for users to request the deletion of some data while keeping their account active. For comprehensive data deletion, the account must be fully deleted.
